Site 16: RHS Beach
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
William Blake - Auguries of Innocence
Follow the path through the upper marsh and it will lead you the Rocky Hill School beach. Site 16 is a sandy beach that gives way to a muddy inter-tidal zone, perfect for exploring. Here, students seine for fishes, hunt for crabs, and watch for birds. Keep an eye out for the shy diamondback terrapins, nesting ducks, swan, and other waterfowl. At low tide, watch the eastern mudsnails feast on macroalgae below the water line.
