Site 7: Swimming Pool

A number of animals, whose pedigrees stretch

back millions ofyears, seem to have escaped

Niles Eldridge - Survivors from the Good Old, Old, Old Days

Site 7 is a man-made pond that fills and empties with the changing tides. Once, the concrete sluice (7a) had gates that kept the water from returning to the river. Now, the pool serves as an ideal location to capture horseshoe crabs, which seem to live here in high abundance.  In season, the pool is surrounded by switch grass and high tide bush. Frequented by student explorers, swimmers, sailors, and kayakers year-round, Sites 7, 7a, 7b, and 7c make up Rocky Hill School's waterfront area.
